"here we are again...Sergio you do not expect...or maybe yes?
For a couple of months fleeting video tapes, posted on the web, portrayed him engaged in the interpretation of some well known jazz classics, perhaps in response to everyday life and to quarantine regime. As going to say "listen, this is my anti-covid recipe for each of you". That room, those vinyls, beautifully displayed in background, but always there in the same precise position, and then Sergio with his guitar. You can easily imagine him there, while he keeps on trying and trying again without interruption. Then, one day "this is my last video" and the curtain falls ... Now the game gets serious and finally he presents us the definitive collection. What, in fact, is a very lucid reinterpretation of the aforementioned classics in a completely personal, at times psychedelic, if not, paraphrasing some of the titles, in a "damn sophisticated and liturgical" key. Classics by Monk, Evans, Ellington and many others, shaped by his guitar, acquire new lymph and new expressive form ... The 21 themes are part of a larger creative design, made up of variations and made even more captivating by the small electronic inventions, scattered between one theme and the next. Crepuscular, thoughtful, experimental, noisy, deliberately spartan ... Highly recommended! ... to those who have always chewed on jazz, but also to those who just chew on music! "
